Flower themed wallpapers

15/05/2010

I recently got a drawing tablet, and in learning my way around it, I’ve found that tracing flowers is a great way to improve hand-eye-coordination and learn how to properly apply pressure to vary line width or opacity. As a result I’ve made three flower themed wallpapers: one with a lotus flower, one with a rose and one with both flowers.Smaller version of the Rose and Lotus wallpaper

I’ve only got 1440×900 versions available right now, because that’s my screensize. If there’s a demand for other sizes, that can be arranged. The wallpapers are all distributed under CC-BY-SA 3.0, and I have included an alternate download that has the gimp files so that you can modify them to taste.

    Gorgeous.

I’m trying to fix my wacom on Linux problems right now :) I want to do some textures for freely licensed assets for the now-open source Lugaru engine.

I will upload these beauties ASAP to opengameart.org (thank you for the license choice).

Question1: one of the layers is called “something SVG” did you work with SVG too in the process? Would you like to release the .svg files?

Question2: if I upload the .xcf with both flowers, would there be any reason to upload the other two .xcf? Is there any difference besides the position?

Hint: .xcf.bz2 or .xcfbz2 might be a good format choice, since it can be directly opened/saved to and it is much more compact.

Thanks for the comment qubodup. Not sure what good these would do on opengameart, since it’s not game art, but if you think they belong there - be my guest.

Answer 1: I did the original line tracing in Inkscape, so that’s why there are imported SVG layers. I don’t have those files neatly organized in the way I have the xcfs (I was just doing this for practice, remember?) so I’m afraid I can’t upload those.

Answer 2: Yes, the colors are a little bit different and the sizes are different.
